This is my first blog so go easy on me, however I needed semi creative writing outlet since its been 4 years since I left school. So please enjoy my first blog entitled The Hair Dye Predicament.
So I have been consistently dying my hair black since I was the age of 15. Now, being 21, I decided that the black was way to harsh on my pale Anglo Saxon skin so off I go to the hairdresser to get out as much as possible. After being disgruntled many a time about the cost of trying to get black hair dye out of my hair ($150 plus) I booked in an appointment with a local hair dresser who quoted me $150 to strip out most of the black in my hair. When one strips out black hair dye from their hair it generally turns a gingery red colour as that is the common undertone in most black hair dyes. SO after sitting in the hairdressers chair for 60 + minutes they inform me that its not moving as much as they thought it would. PANIC!
After reassuring myself they wont let me walk out of the salon with it looking horrible I take a deep breath as I return to the salon seat. I glance at my hair and about an inch of my hair is as expected! Ginger and fluorescent as previously anticipated, however the rest of my hair doesn't look like its budged at all!! My heart sinks, I knew this was going to happen!! So they dry it off and it has shifted a little, but definitely not a lot. The women tries to reassure me that it will lift as I wash my hair and applies a red colour ( quite lovely on the model, was a little scared but I thought why not?!? ). 45 minutes later the red is complete and I notice as she is drying my hair off that some of the longer strands at the back of my hair have shifted a little but are still orange!! Not red!! Never the less by this point I'm to emotionally annoyed so she cuts my hair, I pay the $150 and go home.
Its now been 2 months since that initial "stripping of my hair" and the colour is none the lighter. So I have decided to take matters into my own hands!! As of this weekend I will be investing in a home colour remover product from Priceline and will attack accordingly.
I will post another blog this weekend once I have purchased the product and will also post before and after photos of how black my hair was previously, what it looks like now, and what it looks like after! Hopefully a little better than what it does now!! I'll keep you posted! :)
